The BENIKER polyclinic in Lubumbashi, supported by UNFPA, which provides care for obstetric fistula, received a visit from the Deputy Executive Director of UNFPA. This visit was a moment of conviviality and smile among Dr. KEITA and the women and girls affected by this debilitating condition. In the presence of the Provincial Minister of Health, Dr. Joseph SAMBI and the Regional Director of UNFPA, Mrs. Lydia Zigomo, Mrs. Diène KEITA, called on the different partners to pool their efforts to eradicate this scourge which hinders the development and the blossoming of women and girls in this part of the DRC.

Dignity kits were given to women who had already been operated on for obstetric fistula and those who were waiting to be operated upon.

At the Beniker polyclinic, Dr. Keita praised the work that is being done in the framework of obstetric fistula care:

For me it is a win-win partnership for sustainable development in favor of women and girls. She continued, "We are continuing the work we started so that this center will be a model center.

This crippling disease that leads to the social exclusion of several thousands of women in the DRC must be eradicated. UNFPA is leading a global campaign to eliminate obstetric fistula.
